In general, however, women who have experienced DV report shorter duration of EBF than those who have not experienced DV(10-13).
Whether breast-feeding counselling improves the duration of EBF when women have experienced DV is not known.
We compared the baseline characteristics of the women and their infants according to whether they had experienced DV or not, and by counselling group.
Kaplan-Meier tests were also used to compare median duration of EBF between counselling groups and determine whether there were differences among those who had experienced DV, and those who had not, in each counselling group.
The proportions of women who reported having experienced DV were similar between the counselling groups (57·6 % in UHM and 56·2% in BFC group; P>0·05; data not shown).
